Making stuff together is awesome.

As humans, our superpower is our ability to work together, but coding can be a very solitary activity. That's why Hack Club wants you to take the next step: making a project with someone else.
Here's how it works:

  1. Grab a friend and join our Slack channel. This could be another Hack Clubber, a classmate, or a random teenager from somewhere else in the world. If you don't have someone you wan't to team with, we'll have a channel where you can find somone to work with! If one or both of you are new to Hack Club, you'll both get a free sticker sheet when you submit your project!
  2. Make something awesome. For this program, we want you to make a multiplayer or collaborative experience - something where the core functionality is people interacting in real time. Check out the examples on this page, or our guided projects!
  3. Track your time. Use Hackatime to log your time spent coding and collaborate using Git. Each team member must spend at least 3 hours working on the project.
  4. Get a co-op game! Ship your project and we'll give you and your partner a copy of PEAK (or a smilarly priced co-op game) to play together! If you make something really cool, we might also send you some stuff in the mail...

FAQ

What if I/my partner doesn't know how to code? Don't worry! We've got beginner-friendly guides on how to make your first multiplayer project, and we'll run a few online workshops during the event. Anyone can do Duos! (as long as you're 13-18 ofc)
What if I don't have anyone to work with? Send a message in #matchmaking-channel, and we'll do our best to find you someone to work with.
Is this legit? Yes! Hack Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that's given out thousands of prizes to teenagers across the globe in events like Flavortown and Summer Of Making.
Can I submit multiple projects? Yes, but we encourage you to try working with different people, and focus on making a high-quality project rather than multiple projects.
Can we use AI? You may use generative AI tools for research or learning, but your code, assets, and README cannot be AI-generated. This challenge is all about learning and making with eachother, not with AI.
I have more questions! Send them to #help-channel or email me at emailaddress@email.com.
